Brutal N.J. Nanny Cam Home Invasion Suspect Arrested (Shawn Custis)

42-year-old Shawn Custis has been arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a brutal New Jersey home invasion captured on a nanny cam. Custis was charged with "attempted murder, robbery, burglary and child endangerment." On June 21 a woman's home was broken into where she and her 3-year-old daughter were sitting on the couch in the living room. The man immediately began savagely beating the woman in front of her daughter, who cowered on the sofa, for ten minutes, and even tossed her down the woman's basement stairs before stealing some jewelry and leaving. The unidentified woman survived the beating but sustained multiple injuries, including lacerations on her face, a chipped tooth, injured lips, facial swelling, and an injured leg. Incredibly, the victim did not scream or make any noise during the entire beating, because she was worried that her daughter would start yelling and might incur his wrath. Custis was on the run for an entire week after the victim allowed for the release of the footage in hopes of catching him. Custis was nabbed in Inwood, Manhattan at a girlfriend's house after police tracked him through his cell phone. His girlfriend was also arrested. He has a long criminal record, with a dozen convictions, going back to the early 1990s and was most recently released from prison in December.
