Johor Golf & Country Club, Hole by Hole - Revitalised Johor Exclusive Golf Club

The Johor Golf and Country Club, formerly known as the Royal Johor Golf and Country Club or RJCC, has been open since the early 1970s. It was initially a championship walking course, featuring cow grass. Vijay Singh master champion was told used to pro here back in the 80s. In the past, I was fortunate enough to experience 2-3 rounds at the historic RJCC course. However, completing those rounds was a rare accomplishment for me, given the formidable challenges posed by the expansive walks, undulating hills adorned with towering trees, and the demanding cow grass. RJCC was and still is known as the Johor Government Civil Servants Club, don by the Chief Minister or MB Johor. However almost a decade ago, due to decline in facilities, the 'Royal' title was suspended, and the name is changed to JGCC. This was followed by a privatization project, which construction works had closed the club from 2019 to 2022, which resulting in significant transformations to all the holes. Some hole formations were heavily renovated, and new holes were introduced. The grass was changed from cow grass to Tiftdwarf (please correct me) and buggy carts were introduced, making the course more accessible to a broader range of golfers. Since it opening in 2022, It’s known as one of well maintained well organised golf courses in Johor. The course facility is still under development, the main building and driving range are still under construction, the club leans more towards being resort-friendly rather than a challenging championship course.
