The main purpose of the tap changer is to regulate the number of secondary windings within the circuit. By changing the amount of conductor i.e windings within the changing magnetic field, the induced voltage output can be regulated. Operation of the Tap changer is carried out in steps. Tap change consists of the following parts. 1. On-load tap changer head 2. Diverter Switch 3. Tap Selector 4. Motor Drive In this video, tap changer operation is verified. Maintenance of the diverter switches is done. For this purpose, diverter switches are dismantled, inspected and cleaned. After maintenance, diverter switches re-installed.
