Initially, it was broadcast in daily syndication for the first two seasons, but in its third and final season, it was picked up by the Fox network and renamed 'Fox's Fun House.' The show followed a format similar to the contemporary program 'Double Dare,' where two teams competed by answering questions and participating in messy games. The victorious team had the opportunity to navigate through a thrilling obstacle course known as the 'Fun House' at the end of the show. J. D. Roth served as the show's host throughout its entire run. He was supported by twin cheerleaders, Jacqueline "Jackie" and Samantha "Sammi" Forrest, who cheered for the competing teams, and an announcer. John "Tiny" Hurley was the announcer for the syndicated seasons. At the same time, actor and breakdancer Michael "Boogaloo Shrimp" Chambers, also known as "MC Mike," took over when the show moved to Fox in 1990. The show had a significant sponsorship deal with British Knights, and all participants and crew members, including Roth, wore the company's shoes. Later, this sponsorship switched to La Gear. The creative mind behind the show was game show producer Bob Synes, who, along with his partner Scott Stone, served as executive producer for the first two seasons. After Synes' passing in 1990, Stone joined forces with David Stanley, and the production company was renamed from Stone Television to Stone Stanley Productions. This production remained in charge of the show until its final episode in 1991. Initially, Lorimar-Telepictures was the coproducer and distributor, producing the series for most of the first season. In 1989, Lorimar Television assumed co-production responsibilities, and Warner Bros. Television Distribution became the distributor. A year after its debut, a spinoff series titled 'College Mad House' was introduced in 1989. This show, hosted by Greg Kinnear, ran in weekly syndication for one season and featured teams of college students from various universities in the United States competing against each other."
