The ensemble is based in Boston and dates back to the early 90s. We utilize a huge arsenal of additional Evil Clown instruments to improvise long works featuring transformations across highly varied sonorities. At times, the core unit has been a trio or even a quartet. The longest running core unit was comprised of PEK, Glynis and drummer Yuri Zbitnov, who played for the last couple of years of the archival period and the first 5 years of the reboot starting in 2015. The ensemble has always been highly modular, and our many recordings (well over 100) feature the core unit in dozens of configurations with a huge list of guests and occasionally as only the core unit with no guests. Currently, the core unit is the duet of PEK and Lomon and we are regularly presenting LIVESTREAMs to YouTube from Evil Clown Headquarters with other guest performers. Currently, most performances by Evil Clown Ensembles are LIVESTREAMS from Evil Clown Headquarters to YouTube. We do a few Live Performances each year including Bonnie Kane’s Masters of Sonic Revolution Series at Holyoke Media in Holyoke (Western MA). I’ve been taking this small chamber edition of Leap of Faith to these kind of gigs… There is less to haul, and while we still each use 6 or 7 instruments, they are more similar than the broad palette we use at the home base. Bonnie’s show has typically 3 or 4 bands, so we play 30 or 40 minutes at the most and we need to be able to set up and break down our rig rapidly. These constraints produce a very different chamber vibe than we generally get at ECH where we use percussion and electronics as doubles even when the ensemble is small and has no dedicated percussionists or electronics specialists. The Holyoke Media Center is a very professionally equipped performance space with excellent video and audio recording and a dedicated house engineer. Friend of Evil Clown, Bonnie Kane, has her series there once a month, and Leap of Faith has been several times and more times at her previous location. Bonnie knows everybody, so these shows are always interesting to be on, I always see new people and make new connections. Anyway, I really like these performances, and I bet you will too… PEK, 1/11/2026
