In this interview, Guru’Guay chats with Keitsa, an experienced educator and proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, about her life and work in Uruguay. Originally from the U.S. and having lived all over the world—including Austria and Costa Rica—Keitsa shares why she and her wife chose Uruguay, what it’s like working in education here, and how they’ve been received as a same-sex couple. Spoiler alert: Uruguay has been incredibly welcoming! 🌈💙 We dive into what it’s really like to move to Uruguay for work, how hard (or easy) it is to get hired as a foreigner, and why her Spanish-speaking wife is still job-hunting after two years. Keitsa talks about the challenges foreigners face finding employment, especially in education, and how important it is to line up a job before you arrive. We also cover fun stuff! What her weekends look like, how she’s made friends (hint: neighbors can be awesome), and what she loves most about life here—spoiler: beach walks, brunches, and Montevideo’s chill vibe. 🏖️☕ Plus, we talk about cost of living, healthcare, and the all-important work/life balance that many people move abroad to find. If you’ve been wondering what it’s like to live and work in Uruguay as an LGBTQ+ person, this one’s for you. HUGE THANKS to Keitsa B. Your frankness is so appreciated and helpful to viewers. 👇 Drop your questions in the comments, and don’t forget to like & subscribe for more real expat stories from Uruguay!
