We set ourselves the challenge of ONLY eating street food for 24 hours in Manila, just for fun—and we didn’t expect it to open our minds (and taste buds!) to such an incredible variety of flavours. Some of the tastiest food we've had in the Philippines came from street vendors, and we discovered just how safe and delicious it can be. Many tourists are wary of street food, associating it with food poisoning or poor hygiene, but we’re here to debunk that myth. In fact, you’re just as likely to get food poisoning from eating in a restaurant, and by avoiding street food, you’re missing out on so many budget-friendly, mouth-watering options. We started the day at Salcedo Morning Market (we filmed a separate video on this market, so make sure to check that out too!), where we sampled a fantastic range of both Filipino and international foods. The weekend vibe was amazing, and we tried Hungarian sausage, empanadas, Filipino favourite chorizo pudpud, and fresh fruit juices. By mid-afternoon, we were still full, so we decided to find a light lunch or snack. On the streets, we came across a stall serving cheesy bibingka, a delicious Filipino delicacy freshly cooked on coals. It was the perfect snack! We also grabbed some chilli and garlic peanuts to nibble on. For dinner, we enjoyed a sizzling feast of pork skewers, another Hungarian sausage in a bun, and a Mexican birria taco—crispy and filled with marinated meat. As we sat on the street chatting about our love for street food, we got the chance to interact with some locals who were also grabbing their evening meals. To finish our 24-hour street food adventure, we headed to Legazpi Sunday Market in Makati, where we had a final round of pork sisig, Korean dumplings, and sticky orange chicken with rice—all for a very reasonable price. We absolutely loved doing this challenge, and it has definitely made us eager to try more! If you’ve made it this far, let us know in the comments what other food challenges you'd like us to take on. We flew to Bangkok and decided to do something that nobody has EVER done before… start a travel vlog (😴). We are absolutely ‘blagging’ our way through this adventure, with no SIM cards and a secret love for getting lost. This is all documented on our YouTube channel - not just the ‘best bits’! “BLAG” = A British slang word, to accomplish or execute something without sufficient preparation or experience; improvise.
