INDIA-MYANMAR BORDER FENCING: YIMKHIUNG TRIBAL COUNCIL LEADS MASSIVE PROTEST IN PUNGRO

On 12th April 2025, the Yimkhiung Tribal Council (YTC) organized a public rally at Local Ground, Pungro Town, protesting against the India-Myanmar border fencing, which threatens to divide the Yimkhiung community, with 35 of their villages lying across the border in Myanmar. Chaired by YTC Executive Chairman Mr. Y. Makezho, the program began with a prayer by Pastor Tsuyihba and featured a keynote address by YTC President Mr. Throngso. Leaders from various organizations—including PFPSD, GBs Union, YGBA, YAA, YYO, and YWO—delivered short speeches highlighting the cultural and emotional impact of the fencing. Students from five local schools also participated in solidarity. The rally concluded with the submission of a memorandum to the Union Home Minister through the ADC of Pungro, led by the YTC along with other unions and student groups. .
