Already sitting on one of the most enviable catalogs in contemporary metal, in 2019 they dropped The Valley, highlighting a confident evolution in their sound and standing as a true landmark release that sets a new standard for the genre. With Bozeman exploring childhood trauma on 2019's The Valley, it was their darkest release to-date. But with its 2021 successor, Kin, the story was darker still. With those chapters of Bozeman's life exorcised lyrically, Hymns in Dissonance mines a darkness that's not lyrically personal. And, says Wade, "I don't think HID follows Kin musically at all. If anything, it's the polar opposite. For this album it was fun to be able to just let loose and write ignorantly heavy music again. This album stands on its own," Wade concludes. "Phil was able to create a fresh story to write about, which, in turn, helped us write music with a fresher sound." @WhitechapelTV is: Phil Bozeman - Vocals Ben Savage - Guitar Alex Wade - Guitar Zach Householder - Guitar Gabe Crisp - Bass Brandon Zackey - Drums Director, Cinematographer, Editor, 2D and 3D Post-Production FX: David Brodsky for My Good Eye: Music Visuals @mygoodeye / mygoodeyevisuals Producer, 1st AD, Cinematographer, Editor: Allison Woest for My Good Eye: Music Visuals 2nd AD, Production Manager, Assistant Camera: Robb Brown Gaffer: Christopher Lee Herod Grip: Daniel Gonzalez Art Department (Band Performance): Brandon Cagle Equine Coordinator/Rider: Faith Sadiku Location Managers: Jessica Clowers Barriera Mark Barriera Blake Pavlis Audio: Produced/Engineered by Zach Householder Mixed by WZRD BLD and Jeff Dunne Mastered by Ted Jensen LYRICS: Virtuous Peeling the virtuous rind of impurity Seeded and depleted of morality’s code Fertilize Tainted but fertile, braindead but still verbal Creation from lust is a god damn rush A diabolical stare into the gateway of sin I can smell the sweet stench flow from deep within So I dig and dig I tear the fleshy walls Deeper and deeper, objection falls weaker Arrogance encased in flesh I open the door to humanity’s nest Staring back at me I see the god that shouldn’t bleed But he’s wrapped in bloody sheets, an abomination of me I recede and hang it by its feet It won’t stop crying and whining Shut the fuck up How could I expect a rebirth when my father left me a fucking whore Don’t you speak, don’t say a fucking word You will watch our boy suffocate As I’m beginning to strangle him Watch his soul leave his cold, dead eyes The final gasp of air dissolves as Father Time meets himself And starts to devolve, he reveals that nothing is real The universe beckons to sleep Nothing is real, nothing is coming for any of us Cry out for god and beg for the end No one can hear you scream, no one is coming for you Nothing is real
