These are the Reenogreena Hayes photos taken between 1935-1940. The photos consist of farming the local land and using threshing machinery, the building of the Irish Land Commission House and family photos centred around my cousin Eileen's First Communion. Many were taken directly from negatives so are unlikely to have been seen before. They were taken on an Eastman Kodak 3A camera brought to Reenogreena by my grandfather's Sister Ellen (Nellie) and her husband Bill Purcell in 1932 when they came from America to visit. They are quite remarkable as a camera at that time was very rare let alone used for photographing poor rural people. Amazingly the Kodak Eastman 3A camera still exists. The people in the photos are members of the Hayes family and unknown members of the local community so if you are local you may recognise a grandfather or grandmother please get in touch if you do. When we cleared my cousin Eileen's House following her passing away in 2015 we discovered numerous old photos dating from 1914 onwards. Most of these were not marked to explain who was in them so over the years we have tried to unravel who these people were. This is the film of the 1935-40 photos. My grandfather Michael John Hayes was born in 1895 at Reenogreena, near Glandore in County Cork Ireland. One of nine children he joined the British Navy in 1917 emigrated to England. Five of his siblings Catherine Kate, Ellen, Mary, James and Jeremiah emigrated to America in the early 1900’s so the family has spread far and wide.
