Sev One - We Gone Make it Out (2009) (throwback) usually he should get more respects as an artist. also he directs his own music films called Sev-One Films Boston's pedigree is recognized by its rough exterior and home-grown traditions. Many of its famous faces come from the championed sports franchises, world-renown Ivy League institutions, historic American figures and theatrical heavyweights. The only cog not well oiled on Boston's creative landscape is the Hip Hop scene. Trying to change that belief is G.E.M.S WordWide artist Sev One, who is already renowned as one of Boston's hottest young talents. Today, Sev is continuing his pursuit of stardom as G.E.M.S. WorldWide's first solo artist. To date he has worked with the likes of Jadakiss, Uncle Murda, Junior Reid, Chuck Thompson and Neyo Da Matrix. Helping to establish a stronger Boston music scene Sev has enlisted international DJ, hit-making producer and Boston native Clinton Sparks to host his anticipated new mix tape The Bootleg along side DJ Drama, DJ Kay Slay, Whoo Kid and BIG MIKE. With a self-described sound that he attributes to life's trials and tributes, Sev has catapulted himself into a strong new artist. A product of the Chesterbrook Housing Projects in Waltham Massachusetts, 10 miles outside of Boston, Sev grew up the middle child of seven siblings. He was introduced to his love for music as a youngster idolizing other artists on the radio. "Every time my brother would turn up the radio I would memorize verses from other artists that inspired me." Those artists just happened to be everyone from WuTang, Biggie, Nas, JayZ to Rakim, Big Daddy Kane and Whoodini. Over time, he would start writing his own lyrics, which would go on to become the fuel for his desire to become an MC. While crafting his lyrics and looking for opportunities to showcase his talent to the world Sev built a pre-production studio in his brother's apartment 8 years ago. With a home-grown studio and steady recording schedule, Sev was able to produce mix tapes on a constant basis, securing him a local fan base. "Once we saw the response to the stuff I was putting out, I decided we needed to attract more attention to the movement." It was then he and the "UNSEEN BEING" purchased an old ambulance, converted the inside to store on wheels and began selling mix tapes, Cds, T-shirts, etc. It was one day while selling merchandise out of the mobile shop that Sev One happened to put one of his CDs in the hands of the right person One day I was out in the ambulance, selling Cd's and I met this dude named Kenny. He purchased a CD, and soon after called me saying he wanted me to take a meeting with this dude in New York by the name of Firas. I took the meeting and the rest is history." Firas turned out to be CEO of G.E.M.S Worldwide and one of Sev's heaviest supporters. Log on to Myspace.com/sevonemusic for more information.
