CESA - PADI IDC Confined Water Presentation (Controlled Emergency Swimming Ascent)

A lot of PADI IDC candidates have questions on how to evaluate the PADI CESA (Controlled Emergency Swimming Ascent) skill in confined water. PADI Platinum Course Director Marcel van den Berg demonstrates how to evaluate the CESA (Controlled Emergency Swimming Ascent) skill in your IDC course and get the maximum amount of points (5.0) for your PADI IE. PADI IDC Skills Timestamps for key moments in this video: 00:00 Intro 00:16 Signal skill 00:22 Communicate with the Divemaster 00:39 Establish neutral buoyancy 00:46 Have the correct arm position 00:58 Take a few breaths 01:23 Remember to swim for 9 meters 01:33 Communicate again with the Divemaster 01:45 Organise the student 01:56 Hold your student 02:05 Identify and correct problem 02:12 Repeat the CESA 02:57 Positive reinforcement and reminder proper technique 03:07 Reorganise student 03:12 Communicate with the assist 03:26 Teach the second scuba diving student 03:42 Correct the problem This is the PADI performance requirement (Objective) from the PADI Instructor Manual: Simulate a controlled emergency swimming ascent by swimming horizontally for at least 9 metres/30 feet while emitting a continuous sound. How to perform and evaluate the PADI CESA (Controlled Emergency Swimming Ascent) skill during your IDC course: First of all you need to choose to perform this skill on the knees or neutrally buoyant. In real life during the PADI Open Water Diver course I like to teach it first from the knees and then neutrally buoyant position. On the IDC you can choose. Teaching it from the knees is slightly easier to control on the IE. It is up to you how you organise it. In this video I demonstrate the slightly easier version of the CESA (Controlled Emergency Swimming Ascent) skill on the knees. Start with the CESA briefing. I recommend to integrate the signals of the skill in the description of the briefing so the briefing goes faster and sounds smoother: 1. Objective 2. Value 3. Organisation 4. (Integrate signals in the description) 5. Description combined signals In this CESA (Controlled Emergency Swimming Ascent) YouTube video I start with the skill demonstration followed by how to evaluate diving students performing the CESA (Controlled Emergency Swimming Ascent) skill on their IDC Course. Demonstration: Start with becoming neutrally buoyant Get your arms in the right (superman) position Take a few breaths Slowly start swimming horizontally while emitting a continuous sound Remind students in the end to swim for at least 9 meters Useful links: 🤙 Join my PADI IDC Course: https://www.saireecottagediving.com/p... or https://www.idckohtaothailand.com 🤿 Follow my Scuba Diving Tips blog: https://www.scubadivingtips.net 🎥 Check out my other YouTube Channel: @Scuba Diving Tips    / scubadivingtips   🤳 Follow me on Social Media: 👨‍💻 Facebook Page:   / scubadivingtips1   🐦 Twitter: www.twitter.com/DivingTips 🐠 Facebook Group:   / scubadiving   Did this video help you with your Diving Skills?
