In this video, I test a BNR 160 amp alternator on my 2005 Honda Civic. In this video, I checked the output of this alternator with a dead battery and all of the vehicle's electrical loads running to load it as much as possible. The belt was tight and not slipping, and all of the grounds are clean and tight. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, feel free to leave a comment EDIT: I contacted BNR about this problem, and they told me that this alternator is rated at 80 amps at idle and 160 amps at 1500 RPM. I was also told that I didn't test the alternator correctly. They told me that I need to remove the alternator and take it to a shop to have it "bench tested", I asked them why testing the alternator the way I did would result in significantly worse performance than what they advertise and they had no explanation. UPDATE: As of March 10th 2021, this alternator completely failed on a road trip 160 miles from home with no warning and easily could have left me stranded. The cause of the failure is unknown. but whatever the reason I am out the $165 that I spent as this alternator only had a 1 year warranty. I only put about 30K miles on this alternator and it has lived a relatively easy life, it has not been subjected to harsh conditions such as extremely heavy loads that it wasn't designed for.
