Streaming now at https://abc7chicago.com/watch/live/11.... A Louisiana woman has been praised for assisting a police officer who was in need of a vehicle to chase a shoplifting suspect. Slidell Police Department said that Sgt Jeff Kahrs was notified on November 1 of “a shoplifting in progress”. He approached the suspect, later identified as 34-year-old Kelsey Baird, who ran out of the store. Bodycam footage released by police shows Kahrs chasing Baird through the parking lot, and Baird’s accomplice, 43-year-old Eric Boudreaux, honking his horn to indicate his location. Baird gets into the passenger seat and the two flee the scene. A Good Samaritan then pulls next to Kahrs and offers the officer a ride, with the video showing the duo chasing the suspects and Kahrs giving a “play to play” to responding officers via radio. Back up officers joined in and arrested Boudreaux and Baird. Both suspects were charged with theft and resisting an officer by flight. Additionally, Baird was charged for possession of narcotics. Slidell Police Chief Daniel Seuzeneau praised the Good Samaritan, saying that “people like you are the reason why Slidell is a great place to live and work.” “Without hesitation you assisted one of our officers… expecting nothing in return. THANK YOU!” Seuzeneau said.
