Pipe #10: The Wizard Pipe

This is the tenth pipe I have made. It's a pretty straight-forward churchwarden inspired a bit by the kind of pipe smoked by wizards in the Tolkien movies, though not exactly. The shape was a little too dull for me, so I added a small step detail at the bottom of the stummel and did a two-tone stain to accentuate that. Though I had not really planned on it, this pipe is the first one of mine that you could call a "straight-grain" pipe. The grain runs straight up and down in the direction of the tobacco bowl bore. This is supposed to make the pipe smoke taste better (though I have no idea if that is true). I'm using a vulcanite stem for this. The real movie-style wizard pipes have wooden stems. I'm going to give that a shot on my next pipe, as I've seen how to do it in a few YouTube videos. Virtually everything I know about pipemaking, I learned from YouTube videos.
