The residents finish decorating the front room at No. 3 for Emily (Eileen Derbyshire) and Ernie (Stephen Hancock) under Annie's (Doris Speed) guidance. Ken (Bill Roache) gets Albert (Jack Howarth) to launder the school team's kits. Ray, after talking to Ena (Violet Carson) decides he wants Vicki and the baby. Albert enlists Ivy (Lynne Perrie) to do the laundry for him but he takes all the credit for a free double rum from Ken. Len (Peter Adamson) gets Vicki on her own and tries to dissuade her from marrying Ray. She later decides that marrying Ray is too risky and walks out of his life. The Bishops' return from honeymoon and Ernie (Stephen Hancock) carries Emily (Eileen Derbyshire) over the threshold of their new home.
