Akhni (ak-nee) is a Memon delicacy cooked in Beef and rice. Memons are a Muslim ethnic group originating from Indian subcontinent. Traditionally, the Memons have been a mercantile community. But, as the years have passed, they have increasingly diversified in to various other professions. Food holds a lot of importance in every memon home, it's a symbol of prosperity. Akhni is an important part of the heritage. If you are not memon or don’t have Memon friend, you don’t know what Akhni is. We went to Kharader Pepper market to try this, and we found Original Mumbai Style Biryani without Food Colour food - it was really good. 20 years old shop Bapu, the owner, was kind enough to give details about his food.
