Hiking the Cocora Valley | A Wild Colombian Adventure!

Hey there, ramblers and rovers! The Cocora Valley, near the town of Salento in Colombia's andean highlands, is a place of great beauty that any adventure traveler should have on their bucket list! It's the only place where travelers can see the famous wax palm trees that are Colombia's national tree as well as hike the beautiful Cocora Valley trail loop. The hiking trail takes us into the mountains, past the groves of palm trees and into the cloud forests of the Colombian mountains. The loop is around 12 kilometers or 7 miles long, and requires some level of physical fitness. There are streams and rivers that wind along the trail, as well as rickety wood and wire bridges that span over the frothy, white waters of the river. Between the sheer beauty of the Cocora Valley and the excitement of crossing over jungle rivers, this will be an adventure that you are sure to never forget! During our own adventure, it rained for much of the day and flooded the trail, which made it even more exciting and beautiful!
