Improve Your Watercolor: Do a Value Study

In this video, I demonstrate the step by step process for creating a watercolor value study of an apple. I discuss the importance of using a full range of values -- from light to dark -- in your watercolor compositions. I also discuss the importance of doing preliminary sketches and developing your drawing skills. #valuestudy #watercolor #naphthamidemaroon I demonstrate the following watercolor techniques in this tutorial -- creating large washes, softening edges, painting round shapes, lifting, glazing, building up pigment and fixing mistakes. I discuss the importance of doing preliminary sketches in pencil. I also talk about the difference between core and cast shadows. I use Daniel Smith Naphthamide Maroon as the only color in this monochromatic painting.
