Alaska Road Trip - Exploring Valdez, Alaska

In this video we continue our Alaska road trip, traveling from Whittier to Valdez across Prince William Sound via the Aurora ferry. Exploring Valdez included trying out a couple coffee shops of course! We found a couple of fantastic hikes with breathtaking views of mountains, waterfalls and the Valdez Glacier. Although you can drive to Valdez, we decided to take our Escape Trailer 21 on the ferry. We've been on ferries before, but this one can be a bit intense due to the 90 degree turn you must take to exit the ferry in Valdez. We also found that despite indications online that there was food on board, dinner wasn't served until near the end of the 6 hour trip so most on board were getting a bit "hangry". We share some of the campground options in and around town. Although being in town can be convenient, we decided to stay about 5 miles outside of town in the Valdez Glacier Campground. This campground is much quieter and the sites are more dispersed (not crowded even on weekends in June during our stay). We lucked out and the weather improved while we were in Valdez. This allowed us to enjoy great scenery around town and on our hikes.
