Patreon / teachertrainingvideos Sign up to my newsletter and get updated with all the latest videos https://forms.aweber.com/form/61/7630... This is a great video for anyone wanting to do formative tests or quizzes that are automatically corrected by Google. You can turn Google Forms into a test by choosing the Quiz button and then making questions where you provide the answers and the feedback. You can use this for ANY subject but in my example I am doing it for language learning. If you are teaching online or having to engage with online teaching, then this is very relevant for getting your learners to do tests and then offer them feedback. This simple demonstration shows you how to build up a quiz in order to test your learners, if they are not in the actual classroom, but a virtual one. In this video tutorial on using Google Forms, Russell shows you how to create automatically checked tests. By logging into Google and your Google Drive, you can create as many Google Forms as you want. If you click on the create button you can change the form from a survey questionnaire to an actual quiz. If you understand what it is like if a student does a test, then this video will help you see it also from the learners’ perspective. Name your form and in settings you need to turn it into a quiz. In this example, Russell shows you how to grab the title of the test to rename the title of the actual file. It is better not to leave gaps in titles on Google Forms. In settings, you can change a form into a quiz. Feedback to students is important. In this tutorial, Russell creates some questions and builds up a quiz by grabbing some text and making this part of the description. This is just an example. The text can be anything. The text is what the students read. Then you can create your questions underneath the text. In Google Forms, this can be done easily. In this tutorial you can see Russell using one of his own websites for the text. This is for legal reasons, as it is easier to demonstrate using non copyrighted websites. Russell is an educational technologist, but some of the other suggested answers are obviously incorrect. Select how many points to give your learners using a points system for correct answers. You also need to let them students know what the correct answer is, too. This is how you build up quizzes in Google Forms. Remember that you need to set the number of points for each answer. Halfway through this video, Russell demonstrates how to share your quiz with your students. If you want your students to actually do the test, you can always preview the quiz. The feedback form will tell the learners whether they have got the questions right or not. The quiz can be anonymous, but you can also add the students’ names, by asking them this at the beginning. In order to identify the person in Google Forms, then select the description. Add questions and make it a short answer in the form. If you want to work with Google Forms, it helps to have a Google account. All of the apps can be accessed via your account. Apps can be accessed in Chrome but also allowed in other browsers. To share a Google Form based test you need to send, but there are different choices. One option is to send the test by email. If this is not possible, you can share a link. This is common with sharing Google documents and sheets. In Forms, you can share a link to the test. If you are using Edmodo, as Russell does, then you can shorten the link and share it into your virtual learning environment. Otherwise, just send the link in another way to your students. In Google Forms, like Google Doc, this is fairly straightforward. Google Forms is an educational technology with a simple display and design. This tutorial takes you through all of the basic steps you need to do in order to create a test or quiz and send it to your students. Russell Stannard runs the educational technology website - Teacher Training Videos. This is one of hundreds of free teacher training videos, many of which apply to non teachers as much as teachers. He offers these videos for free via this YouTube channel and his website - teachertrainingvideos.com. This tutorial lasts 17 minutes but within that time, Russell, shows you clearly how to work with Google Forms. Search for more training videos by using the search tool at the top of the page.
