Smoking an Acoustic Heat-Not-Burn Cigarette

I Smoked an Acoustic Heat-Not-Burn Cigarette. Seriously. This is a real thing. Specifically, I had an Eclipse Menthol, which does not use any electricity to heat the tobacco, instead using the flame from a lighter, making it acoustic, rather than electric, which is quite different from the norm these days, as all HTP’s produced today are electric. Pretty neat stuff. So, what is Eclipse? Well, it was introduced in 1994 by RJ Reynolds after the failure of "Premier" in 1988, and solved a lot of the issues those cigarettes had faced, but not all of them. They were marketed as an alternative to traditional smoking, however, never became particularly popular, which is why they were discontinued in 2014, after a 20 year production run. Since these have been off shelves for nearly 10 years now, finding a pack is quite the rarity, so I am very thankful to have one. So how do these work? The way this works is that, instead of using electricity, the flame from a lighter lights a carbon tip coated in glass fibers, which then heats a metal tube, then heating the tobacco, releasing aerosols which are the "smoke" of the cigarette. Essentially, it's the same concept as modern heat-not-burn cigarettes, but a different way of getting the same result. As such, it's not unrealistic to say that these are one of the original predecessors to modern devices, such as IQOS, Glo, and Ploom. Since the discontinuation of these, electronic HTP’s have exploded in popularity, and are now more popular than ever.
