Contraluz Art Hostel has as an aim to promulgate Uruguayan photography and artistic productions, as well as to promote the exchange with our hosts. Each nook of the house is intervened by different artists and photographers, filling the hostel´s walls with sense and identity. We want to offer a warm, friendly, fun and enriching place, from the human aspect and also from the cultural one. We are located just in front of the beach and 100 m from the most characteristic park of the city. Is an easy access neighborhood with great night and cultural life, full of pubs, restaurants and museums; a students area, surrounded by three of the greatest universities of the city. We are located in Parque Rodó, one of the most characteristics areas of the city and a really privileged zone, a few minutes from the center of the city and just next to the River Plate coast. There upon the boulevard, you can find the Ramirez Beach, The Summer Theater, and the former Parque Hotel, which is now a base building of the Mercosur. Within the Park there is an artificial lake, a children play area, an amusement park, and several places to eat. Besides you can also find the photo-gallery "a cielo abierto", coordinated by the Montevideo´s photography center (Centro de Fotografía de Montevideo) which is intended exclusively to the exhibition of photographs. Inside the neighborhood you can find different points of interest, such as the Visual Arts National Museum, a skating rink, the Universities of Architecture, Economy and Engineering; as well as a lively night scene, full of pubs and restaurants. www.contraluzarthostel.com
