At TECNALIA, our healthcare teams, experts in biomaterials and medical technologies have been working for several years on regenerative surgery technologies using bioprinting to achieve new solutions that accelerate the regeneration of tissue lesions. This work is part of the BIO4CURE initiative. We are working on the development of regenerative medicine and medical robotics technologies using bioprinting. Treating damaged tissue injuries is nowadays preventive. Our goal is to contribute both to the innovation of current treatments and to the sustainability of the healthcare system: bioprinting is emerging as an innovative technology to boost tissue regeneration. The BIO4CURE initiative in which we have participated is investigating innovative techniques to achieve automated intraoperative 4D bioprinting. At the time of surgery on the patient, this technique applies new generation biomaterials as well as new adhesion and curing processes to optimize the morphological properties of the material. In this project, TECNALIA's biomaterials and medical robotics teams contribute their experience in the development of bioinks, as well as various applications for robotic surgery based on the patient's personalized medical image.
