🥐✨ A Ridgewood institution with a beautiful story — and a bright future. Keum Sook Park discovered her love for baking at a young age, inspired by the aromas and flavors of her mother’s kitchen in Korea. That passion carried her to New York City, where she trained at the Institute of Culinary Education and the French Culinary Institute, honing her craft under legendary pastry masters including Jacques Torres, Johnny Iuzzini, Eric Bedoucha, and Michael Laiskonis. Her journey led her to the iconic Payard Pâtisserie & Bistro on Lexington Avenue, where she worked alongside some of the most talented pastry chefs, chocolatiers, and bread bakers in the country. When Payard closed, Sook brought that world-class expertise to Bergen County — opening Sook Pastry in Ridgewood in 2011. Since then, Sook Pastry has become a beloved destination for exquisite French pastries, chocolates, breads, and savory favorites — from beautifully laminated croissants to made-to-order crêpes filled with smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers, or chicken and mozzarella. Today, the tradition continues under new owners Rumbi Mufuka and John Thompson, who are honoring Sook’s legacy while maintaining the same uncompromising commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and community. 🎙️ Here, Sook Pastry is featured in conversation with Jenn Trepeck @jenntrepeck and Jennifer Morgan @jennifer.d.Morgan — celebrating excellence, continuity, and the power of small businesses done right. 📍 Ridgewood, NJ 🌐 www.sookpastry.com #SookPastry #RidgewoodNJ #FrenchPastry #PastryWithPurpose #WomenInFood #CommunityFirst #FlavorsOfAmerica #EatLocal #BakeryLove #SmallBusinessStories
