Try this Mexican Twist on the Classic Bhel Recipe! Try and let me know in the comments. MEXICAN BHEL CHEF AANAL KOTAK PREP TIME: 10-15 Mins COOKING TIME: 10-15 Mins INGREDIENTS: FOR MEXICAN SAUCE: • 1 tbsp oil • 1 tbsp garlic (chopped) • 1 tbsp ginger (chopped) • 2 tbsp onion (chopped) • 2 nos. tomatoes puree • 1 tbsp tomato ketchup • 1 tsp red chilli powder • ¼ tsp cumin powder • ½ tsp sugar • 1 tsp vinegar FOR TORTILLA: • 2 cup maida • 1 tsp salt • Pinch baking powder • 5 tbsp oil • Hot water as required • Oil for frying FOR ASSEMBLING BHEL: • ½ cup red capsicum (chopped) • ½ cup green capsicum (chopped) • ½ cup yellow capsicum (chopped) • ½ cup potatoes (boiled & chopped) • ¼ cup boiled corn kernals • ½ cup rajma beans (soaked & boiled) • ¼ cup onion (chopped) • 2 tbsp coriander (chopped) • 2 tbsp green chilli (chopped) • Salt as per taste • Fried tortilla • 2 tbsp prepared mexican sauce • 2 cube Cheese (grated) • Lettuce (chopped) (for garnish) • Jalapenos • Olives • Coriander METHOD: FOR MEXICAN SAUCE: • Set a pan on medium heat, add oil, garlic, ginger. Saute it for a minute. • Then add onion and saute it till translucent. • Further add tomato puree, tomato ketchup, red chilli powder, cumin powder, sugar. Mix this all well till water is absorbed. • At last add vinegar and mix it well. Keep this aside for further use. FOR TORTILLA: • In a bowl add maida, salt, baking powder and oil. Combine this well. • Gradually add water and knead into a soft dough. • Cover the dough with a wet cloth and rest it for 2 hours. • Further, after the rest knead the dough once again and make small roundels from the dough. • Now take a dough ball, roll it into a thin tortilla. • Further cut the tortilla into pieces or as shown in the video. • Fry the tortilla till crispy and golden brown. • Keep it aside for further use. FOR ASSEMBLING BHEL: • Now to assemble bhel in a bowl add red capsicum, green capsicum, yellow capsicum, potato, corn kernals, rajma, onion, coriander, green chillies, salt as per taste. Toss all the veggies. • Further add crushed pieces for fried tortilla and prepared sauce. Mix everything well. • Transfer the bhel to the serving plate. • Add some crushed fried tortilla, a little sauce, grate some cheese and garnish it with some lettuce, jalapeno, olives, coriander leaves and keep some fried tortilla for accompaniment. • Mexican bhel is ready to serve.
