In the kitchen the Havalon Piranta : -works very well as a small paring knife -easily takes apart chickens, turkeys, rabbits and other small game -is a little awkward as a general utility knife (blade holder gets in the way) As an interesting development using this blade for wood craft, utility, and kitchen work has forced me to refine my cutting skills to minimize lateral forces on the knife. This has direct transferred to other blades which I can both use faster and grind thinner because of the skill and experience in minimizing side loads in cutting. It stands out pretty clearly this is an interesting knife to carry and use to try to develop cutting techniques to the maximum. The very nice thing is that you can easily push the boundaries of what can be cut and how and in the worse case scenario if the blade breaks you are out about a quarter. As an amusing development, if you buy these blades in large packs when they are on sale and you use high end stones - it may in fact be that the cost of sharpening them just on the abrasive loss is comparable to just replacing the blades. That is kind of funny that it could be cheaper to replace the knife than to sharpen it. Again for the type of work being done here there are other models more suitable which offer : -longer blades -shorter blades -thicker blades etc. . In general pick the blade/handle which is best suited to the work to get the most efficient cutting with the least chance of damage to the knife/blade.
