Kitaro was born in Toyohashi, Aichi Prefecture, Japan and is a graduate of Toyohashi Commercial High School. After graduating, Kitaro moved to Tokyo to experience and become a part of the music scene, and it was there that he discovered the synthesizer. His first synthesizer was analog, and he recalls having “just loved the analog sound that it made compared to today's digital sound”. Kitarō (喜多郎, nato il 4 febbraio 1953) è un musicista, compositore e polistrumentista giapponese considerato un pioniere della musica New Age. Kitaro è nato a Toyohashi, nella prefettura di Aichi, in Giappone e si è laureato alla Toyohashi Commercial High School. Dopo la laurea, Kitaro si è trasferito a Tokyo per sperimentare ed entrare a far parte della scena musicale, ed è stato lì che ha scoperto il sintetizzatore.
