Explored with @abandonedexploringmike @MrE- @stuierich @theurbandon5902 The former chapel of Airedale College Bradford. The building was originally the chapel for Airedale College, a Congregationalist college that trained ministers. It was designed by the architect J.P. Pritchett and construction was completed in 1839, its style is a noble, if mauled, early Classical building. Airedale College became the Yorkshire United Independent College in 1888 and in 1966 became part of the University of Bradford . In the early 70s it became home texera yarn company, they supplied knitting wool and yarns in a variety of fibers, textures, and colors for textile crafts as well as supplying props and materials for film and stage productions, some of these where silk yarn for the film Elizabeth, and the West End musical Mama Mia – whose leading lady wears a costume featuring yarn from Texere. On the 21 Oct 2015 the company went into liquidation, and on the 21st of May 2018, the company was dissolved. In 2018 RBWest Ltd plannedto fully refurbish Grade II listed building but as of 2025 The building still sits in a derlict state steadily decaying due to the elements taking hold and the only life left are the resident pigeons that have taken over this once thriving building and it's future is uncertain. #abandoned #derelict #decay #bradford #urbex #urbanexploration #mill #factory #industrial
