Zhou Chenliang is the director of the intensive care unit (ICU) on the east campus of Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University. Since January 12, Zhou and his colleagues have stayed in the hospital almost every day. For critically ill patients with #Covid_19, dangerous situations may suddenly occur. Each of these patients has been rescued at least three times before their lives are saved in the ICU. Doctors and nurses need to stay up and keep an eye on them all the time. The hardest time of the epidemic was late January and early February. During that period, protective equipment was in desperately short supply. Most of the nurses here are very young and have never experienced such a severe situation. To reassure all the doctors and nurses, Zhou worked over 16 hours per day, staying with them, dealing with different kinds of emergencies. "I think what we enjoy most is that we can save our patients' lives. I feel that the pride of professional achievement at that moment is intoxicating," said Zhou. After this pandemic, the focus of their work is to treat critically ill patients with other diseases. "A new round of work is about to start," he said.
