Remarkably, this horse refuses to go on the gallops and Cook and Bridger have to try and keep their mercurial character on-side and get the work into him via trips to the woods, polo pitch and other locations. As you can see here, he sticks his neck out near the line at Epsom under a fantastically-timed ride from Gina Mangan and this equine character is one part of what makes our sport of horse racing so intriguing and fascinating, as highlighted in the post-race interview here as Cook talks to Racing TV presenter Nick Luck about the challenges of training a horse like Imperial Cult.
