Hayes and 7 other students filed a class action lawsuit to stop the expansion of a large coal mine in New South Wales. 'The thing is, this is going to affect us, and by them not taking action, it's just going to lead to more costs in the future,' he explains. Hayes organized Australia's School Strike 4 Climate protest in September 2020. 'I shouldn't have to be doing this,' Hayes argues.
