LSU is 11–2, but something clearly isn’t right. After returning from Jacksonville with one of the hottest offenses in college baseball, the Tigers have gone cold at the plate. Over the last five games LSU has hit just .208, with the regular starters managing a .181 batting average. In this episode of Inside LSU Baseball, I break down what’s really going wrong offensively — from poor pitch selection and a lack of hitter’s counts to players pressing under the weight of expectations. But the offense isn’t the only concern. The Tigers bullpen, which was expected to be one of the strengths of the team, still has very little clarity outside of a couple trusted arms. Thirteen games into the season, LSU is still searching for reliable high-leverage options. I also discuss the defensive regression after last year’s historically strong defensive season and why it’s contributing to the current struggles. The good news? LSU’s weekend rotation continues to be a bright spot. Evans, Moore, and Schmidt have been excellent through the first three weekends of the season. Plus, we address the growing debate among fans: Should William Schmidt be pitching in purple on Friday nights?
