In this webinar, representatives from Argonne and the U. S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) demonstrate how to use the Recompete Eligibility Mapping Tool (REMT) to find eligibility criteria and determine qualifying geographic areas for the EDA’s Recompete Pilot Program. The program focuses on two main types of eligible areas: Local Labor Markets (LLM): Metropolitan Statistical Areas, Micropolitan Statistical Areas, commuting zones, and Tribal lands. Local Communities (LC): Areas served by a general-purpose unit of local government within an LLM that do not meet the Recompete funding requirements. The Recompete Pilot Program – authorized under the CHIPS and Science Act – will invest in persistently distressed communities to create, and connect people to, good jobs. The pilot program specifically targets areas with a high prime-age (25-54 years) employment gap — and will invest $200 million through two phases. This video shows interested communities how to navigate the REMT in order to assess their community’s geographic eligibility.
