You know, now that I think about it, from my personal experience with this game, despite the "Dragon Quest" series being much more high-stakes from a plot perspective when compared to the "Mario" series (at least with "Dragon Quest 8"), the boards from the latter are arguably more stressful than those from the former. Sure, with the "Dragon Quest" boards, a good chunk of them (the Observatory, Mt. Magmageddon, and Colossus) can leave you trapped in small areas for extended periods of time if you're unlucky, resulting in your overall growth being stunted (which is why I'm not playing them with Standard Rules), but with the exception of Robbin' Hood Ruins and Alltrades Abbey, none of them will really jeopardize your chances of winning if you aren't lucky enough to establish yourself in a good district early on. Meanwhile, the "Mario" boards are the opposite- fast gameplay, but most of the boards can quickly become terrifying if you don't play your cards right- which is kind of ironic since some of the most terrifying boards of the bunch in this regard have some of the best music. Take "Super Mario Bros.", for example. This board has amazing music, but with Standard rules, it can quickly become a warzone thanks to the presence of stocks making forced buyouts even more common than they are on the Easy Rules version of this board. Seriously, between me and Waluigi alone, at least half of the properties changed hands at least once over the course of this game. On top of that, since this is Mario's home turf, his tendency to be aggressive with stocks can make him a nightmare to deal with- especially if he manages to get a property or two in District A since he won't hesitate to turn them into department stores and take advantage of the other CPUs to bolster his already-formidable stock portfolio.
