Local hero of Optimism Mackenzie Page started the Great Pumpkin Challenge when she was just 13 years old. Mackenzie's friend Zoe, the inspiration for The Great Pumpkin Challenge, is a camper at The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp - the fundraiser's beneficiary. Hole in the Wall was founded by Paul Newman and provides “a different kind of healing” to more than 25,000 seriously ill children and family members annually – all completely free of charge. For many of these children and families, Hole in the Wall provides multiple Camp experiences throughout the year at its facility in Ashford, Conn., in 40 hospitals and clinics, directly in camper homes and communities, and through other outreach activities across the Northeast.
