Allen, O.D., F.A.A.O., explains glaucoma and what causes glaucoma. If you have ever been diagnosed with open angle glaucoma and wanted to know what causes glaucoma, then check out this video. This video reviews the basics of primary open angle glaucoma and high eye pressure. I also review glaucoma symptoms such as visual field loss and glaucoma treatments. However, as mentioned in the video, not all types of glaucoma have problems with eye pressure and we call that normal tension glaucoma. I also go over who is at risk for glaucoma, but it's important to note that anyone can get this eye disease, even children. Children can even be born with glaucoma and we call that congenital glaucoma. I then review how you can prevent glaucoma by visiting your eye doctor regularly, as this eye disease can often be caught early and treated to delay vision loss.
