These polyps are characterized by a mixture of mature cells and tissues native to the location where they arise, leading to a diverse histological appearance. HPs can occur throughout the GI tract, with common locations including the colon, small intestine, and stomach. They are often associated with hereditary syndromes such as Peutz-Jeghers syndrome, juvenile polyposis syndrome, and Cowden syndrome. Peutz-Jeghers syndrome, in particular, is characterized by the presence of HPs in the gastrointestinal tract along with mucocutaneous pigmentation and an increased risk of various cancers. Clinically, patients with HPs may present with symptoms such as rectal bleeding, abdominal pain, or diarrhea, although many cases are asymptomatic and discovered incidentally during endoscopic procedures or imaging studies. Diagnosis of HPs is typically made through endoscopy, which allows for visualization and biopsy of the polyps. Treatment depends on the size, number, and location of the polyps, as well as the presence of associated syndromes. Small, asymptomatic HPs may be monitored with regular surveillance endoscopies, while larger or symptomatic polyps may require endoscopic or surgical intervention for removal. Patients with hereditary syndromes associated with HPs require comprehensive management and surveillance to monitor for polyp recurrence and early detection of associated malignancies. 🩺🔬💉 #HamartomatousPolyps #PeutzJeghersSyndrome #JuvenilePolyposisSyndrome #CowdenSyndrome #GIPathology #Gastroenterology #MedEd #Endoscopy #Colonoscopy #PolypDetection #HereditarySyndromes #CancerScreening #HealthAwareness #MedicalEducation #USMLE #FMGE #NEETPG #BoardExamPrep #fmge #fmgevideos #rapidrevisionfmge #fmgejan2023 #mbbslectures #nationalexitexam #nationalexittest #neetpg #usmlepreparation #usmlestep1 #fmge #usmle #drgbhanuprakash #medicalstudents #medicalstudent #medicalcollege #neetpg2023 #usmleprep #usmlevideos #usmlestep1videos #medicalstudents #neetpgvideos #hamartomatouspolyps
