This is a brief introduction to the URI Libraries Search. If you have questions, please feel free to contact us! Getting Started with the URI Libraries Search The URI Libraries Search connects you to over one million books in the URI Libraries, as well as articles, ebooks, videos, archival materials and more. Type your search topic in the blank and click Search, or click on Advanced Search to take advantage of additional search functions. For this search, we’ll use internet of things. When you get your results, you’ll see the number of results at the top of the results list, and options to adjust your results on the right side of the page. You can search for items in libraries beyond URI, change the order of your results if you’d like to see the newest items first, and limit your results by format, location, topic, and more. While you can search without signing in, you’ll find additional results and get easier access to online resources if you sign in using the Guest link in the upper right corner of the search page. You can also sign in later. There are books and articles in this list. If you’re looking for ebooks or online resources, click Available Online. To find books available in print, click on Available in the Library. If a book says “Online access,” that means it’s an ebook, and you can click View Online to access it. Click anywhere else near the book’s basic information to learn more about it. This book is also available in print, so we also see the library and the call number where the book is located. On this screen, you can save the item for later by clicking the pin icon. Here you can also email the result to yourself, copy a permanent link to the book, generate an MLA or APA format citation, or export the citation to a reference manager. If you scroll down to Virtual Browse, you can even see what’s nearby on the shelf. Click the large X on the left side of page to close this screen. Articles work similarly. If the full article is available online, you’ll see a link that says “Full Text Available,” and you can click that link to go to the full article. To learn more about the article and access additional features, click anywhere near the article information. Again there are links to help cite, print, or email the article, and a description of the article is below. If you have any questions about searching for information, please contact a librarian!
