Lined up this weekend, as I told you in last week’s video, there is a lot going on across New England. First up we’ve got the annual MSBA Sport Fishing Expo on Saturday and Sunday at the Wolves Den Sports Complex in Pembroke, MA. While I won’t be able to personally attend this show, Dale Nicholson will be there both days to assist with all of your subscription needs! Also taking place on Saturday the 24th, we have the annual Striper Surf Day presented by Rivers End Tackle in Old Saybrook, CT. I’ll be doing a seminar on plugging the surf for large striped bass, and the world tag team champions of Dave Anderson and John Lee will be presenting a seminar on Spot Science as they pool their many years of fishing and diving the surf to help you recognize key striped bass locations in your home waters. There will also be vendor reps, demos, free food and raffles, and this event runs from 10 am to 4 pm. And then last up on Sunday, we have a fundraiser being put on by the crew of Reel Fishing Northeast to benefit Owen Hanecak, son of Fisherman Field Editor and Contributor, John Hanecak. If you recall last fall we had a fishing tournament and fundraiser to assist in Owen’s ongoing battle with Leukemia. The fundraiser is being held in Meriden, CT from noon to 8 PM. As always, you can get all the details on these items and more by visiting the events calendar at TheFisherman.com. Fishing-wise, with the arrival of spring this week, there has been a lot of talk about trout up in Massachusetts. Our friends at the Goose Hummock Shop report that a bunch of spots on the upper and lower Cape received fish in the last week. If you’d like to see exactly where, when and what species have been stocked by the state to help you in deciding where to go this weekend, you can check out the news story “Spring Trout Stocking In Massachusetts” at TheFisherman.com which includes a link to the state’s trout stocking map and list. And last up, another excellent option to get out and wet a line this weekend is for holdover striped bass. As I’ve been reporting for several weeks now, the bite in the tidal rivers of Southern New England has been very good lately. Connecticut angler Joe Diorio stopped off to take a few casts on Saturday night after working the Lamiglas booth at the Saltwater Fishing Expo in Edison, NJ all day, and he was rewarded with some solid action. Most everyone that I have spoken with lately has reported positive results both day and night.
