Neil Buchanan fashions some old newspaper and kitchen roll tubes into a broomstick, which he then combines with some ping-pong balls to create an elaborate bedroom security system. We also explore sketched etchings, some Magic Hands Plasticine inserts, a wonderful night scene in the medium of salt, and a bit of tissue paper flower-arranging - and I'm afraid the recording is cut short during that final one. Sorry about that. This is the last episode of Art Attack that I expect I'll upload, and I wonder where you think it stands in amongst its fellow arty-crafty shows. SMart with poor old Mark Speight was good, but I never personally thought it was in the same league. Hartbeat and other Tony Hart vehicles were always well worth watching, and I've got very happy memories of those. (We're not allowed to like You-Know-Who's Cartoon Club any more...) It's possible, though, that Art Attack just edges them all at the top of my personal tree in terms of accessibility, entertainment, variety, and fun. Controversial? Maybe. Either way, I wonder what kids these days would make of all of these. I'm not aware of any more recent programme challenging for the creativity crown, but I'm sure there must be one. Grateful thanks to Ben for providing this recording - please take the time to check out / benriggers when you get the chance.
