Woodturning - From fresh oak wood to a large hollow form 75 x 11 cm

Woodtruning and hollowing - this is a two-year project. We were offered a lovely oak log in March 2020 and we decided to make a hollow form. This piece was about 100 kilos at the beginning. Now the finished form is 12 kilos heavy. The work was done on three different lathes. The final work was done on a quality and heavy-duty lathe, Coronet Regent from RecordPower. You will see the preparation for mounting it on the lathe, rough woodturning and hollowing of the fresh oak wood. Then the final work started 2 years later and you will see woodturning and hollowing of the dried hollow form. To keep this video short, we skipped sanding and applying tung oil as well as many parts are faster. Oak is beautiful but hard wood. We also love plum, cherry and walnut wood to turn.
