Hellebores and Glass Vases in Watercolor

Learn to paint the transparency of a half-filled glass vase in a three-value process. Then paint that vase filled with stems of pink and purple hellebores. Watch me paint the flowers with rich color and a "pressure stroke" that releases the water in the body of the brush. Hellebores bloom in late winter or early spring. Painted as a demonstration for my live stream class, the Musconetcong Watercolor Group. Pigments: Cobalt, Quinacridone Rose, New Gamboge, Sap Green, Mineral Violet, Cerulean. Paper: 140 lb Fabriano cold press. Brushes: Silver Black Velvet, various sizes. The natural bristle is important for the "pressure stroke" because it holds water in the body of the brush that can be release to extend the stoke and soften the color.
