But this morning, there's no trains in sight...just Thomas and a boxcar marked "DO NOT OPEN". As the day goes on, more and more of the mysterious wagons pop up around her yard...and they're not leaving! What's in the wagons, and why are they in McCrackenton? -------------------------------------------- DIRECTOR'S NOTES: SURPRISE! Here's one that's been in the making for quite some time! 2023 was the tenth anniversary of Crotoonia's inception, and I was trying to figure out a storyline to commemorate it. By February, a little something that would turn out to be quite a bit more work than intended was brewed! Centering it around Livi very quickly came to mind, as she'd proven shockingly popular among my OCs...her Meet the Crotoonians short is currently the tenth highest viewed video of the channel! But she's also a character that's very fun to write around. Her prickly and bossy nature makes for great contrast against the rest of our optimistic crew, making for a lot of fun potential! After developing an initial outline for the story, I had decided this wouldn't be a story I'd handle myself in terms of scripting. I'd need someone with a great sense of comedy, a great sense of heart...a great sense of silly. And that's where @halfbaked8 comes in! A good of mine for ages and one who's penned easily some of the funniest videos in the Thomas fandom (and one of our funniest!), Haydn soon got to work drafting and scripting the episode you see before you! He developed my relatively simple outline (with a single bit of solid dialogue) into a delightfully funny and sweet story that made for a ton of fun with our voiceover crew to record! Most of the Season 2 episodes have been very collaborative efforts in terms of the animation, and the episode had been relatively simple in terms of conception to produce, so I had chosen to take hold on this one to save some work for the rest of the crew. I figured we could get the episode out in a timely manner and the rest of the team wouldn't have to worry about a very complex set to load. Well, there's a reason our Theodore episode got done faster haha. Between burnout, a lot of external happenings, developing and filming tests for a new series, and even a surgery to recover from, the episode wound up taking far longer than I had planned to. Ultimately I wound up doing a good majority of the animation work, though @tippertophat was extremely kind enough to step in near the end of production to animate the Docks sequence as well as some character and idle animation in the finale. I think with this one I might take a break from solo work for a while, as recent productions have proven that teamwork is the way for us to go in future...that, and I severely need to rest up my animating/production joints. ^^;; All in all though, despite the delays, this was a delight to produce. From Haydn's script to getting to REALLY exercise my animating chops to how it all came together, while we might've missed the development's tenth anniversary...it's in time for the series' PROPER launch anniversary, and we've got a few more treats planned for it yet! Next time, we're visiting a certain little Welsh engine down at the mines...and it's going to be no choir picnic! --------------------------------------------- CREDITS: A MilanToon Animation Production In Association With Tony Pilot Home Video and Freakin' Duck Pictures Produced in Partnership with The Channel Frederator Network ORIGINAL SCORE AND SONG REMIXES BY @WisteriaBirdStudios ANIMATED AT MilanToon Productions Windsor, Ontario DIRECTOR/CLEANUP/SET DESIGNER/VOICE DIRECTOR Milan Prsa WRITTEN BY @halfbaked8 PRODUCTION ASSISTANTS @DukeOfBenreBay @tippertophat LEAD ANIMATORS TipperTopHat 2D ANIMATION BY @thomasfan101 WITH THE VOICE TALENTS OF @LizProductions5784 @JoeyTurner476 @SacredDragonair Steel and Steam Co. @SaiyanSerenityV @CuriosityPeaks-dj7el and Milan Prsa FEATURING MODELS BY @IHaveNoTalent62 Milan Prsa Soeren Hermansen ejima TTN1GWR TipperTopHat thet00nedl00n and a host of credited others! ------------------------------------- This is a fan-produced project featuring characters owned by various companies.
