Earl E. Seelow US Army 1952-1954 Earl was born on October 20, 1932 in Edinburg NY, to parents Edwin and Flora Seelow. Earl entered into the US Army on November 13, 1952. Earl trained as an Infantryman and was sent to Korea as a replacement. He was assigned to Company E, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division with whom he would serve his entire time in the Korean War, to include the fierce fighting in the Third Korean Winter campaign at the Battles of Pork Chop Hill and Old Baldy. He was Honorably Discharged on November 12, 1954 at the rank of Technical Sergeant. For his service, Earl was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, 2 Overseas Bars, The United Nations Service medal, Combat Infantry Badge, National Defense Service Medal, and the ROK Presidential Unit Emblem. Earl married his wife Valerie of 67 years on April 21, 1956. Together they had 4 sons. Earl worked for the International Paper Company in Corinth for almost 37 years until he retired in 1994. He served as their UPIU Union Officer for 22 years. Earl was also the Community Bowling Center manager, the Corinth Town Assessor for 5 years, he was a Crossing guard for the Corinth School and he also worked at the Olde Saratoga Brewing Company with his son Jim for 12 years. Earl also served with the Edinburg Fire dept. as Assistant Fire Chief. He was also very active with the Corinth Little League, as coach, umpire and on the Executive Board for over 52 years. Earl was a member of the Free and Accepted Mason Lodge 22, Shriners Valley of Albany, Oriental Temple of Troy, American Legion Post 533, and NYS Assessors’ Association. Earl passed away on February 15, 2024.
