[Part 1] Masantol at ang Matinding Pagbaha

The Climate Change Commission (CCC), with the support of the Department of Finance (DOF), holds the Media Launch of ‘Masantol: Ang Kwento Laban sa Nagbabagong Klima’ in Malate, City of Manila on May 23, 2022. The project aims to communicate the impact of climate change on vulnerable communities in the Philippines — specifically the town of Masantol, Pampanga — to bring awareness and new perspectives to the climate change discourse as well as motivate the Filipino people to spring into action. During the program, the CCC releases the first episode of a three-part video that contextualizes climate change and its effects to the town on various sectors such as livelihood, education, well-being of residents and disaster risk management, among others. Part 1 presents the problem, the causes and the effects of flooding in Masantol. Part 2 presents the interventions that have been done. Part 3 focuses on the recommendations of the CCC and National Panel of Technical Experts (NPTE). It also seeks to highlight the need for local adaptation planning aligned with the National Climate Change Action Plan.
