Crazy Horse Memorial is featured in an award-winning short documentary, part of a multimedia feature package that includes a centerpiece story in internationally published LIV -- The Volvo Magazine. Stiner Bros. of Los Angeles produced the video, featuring the original soundtrack by Guilty Ghosts. Wilson Stiner filmed at Crazy Horse in March 2010, joining a team from the Redwood Group of London working on the magazine feature. Alfred Rinaldi, the magazine's international editor, interviewed Ruth Ziolkowski, members of her family and education specialist Belinda Joe (a Crow Creek Dakota Tribe member) for the story about Crazy Horse Memorial and the late sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski. In 1939, sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski was invited to create a memorial to Crazy Horse. He accepted this invitation and moved to South Dakota in 1947. Korczak lived at the base of what would become the Crazy Horse sculpture in a tent with no running water or electricity for the first several months. By 1948 he had a small home built and was ready for the first blast on the Mountain. Work on the Mountain continues to this day and dreamers all around the world have been able to have a part in creating the world’s largest mountain carving; just by visiting. Crazy Horse Memorial is operated and work continues with the generosity of our visitors and private donors. We are not a federal or state funded project. Your help continues our great work in honoring, protecting and preserving the living heritage of America’s first peoples.
