Six Ways to Weave a Crios.

This video shows six ways of weaving a crios - the traditional woven belt from the Aran islands in Ireland. The final method shown on the video does not use a shuttle or beater but the warp is held in the hands and the two sheds are picked up by the fingers. The weaving is tensioned pulling the layers of warp to tighten the previous row. There are 60 warp ends in total and the weft is white. The original crios is in the Pitt Rivers Museum and is 55 mm wide and 1060 mm in length.
