THREE GUBA PROTESTERS CHARGED IN BAKU - QUBA HADISELERI

Although the protesters in Guba were immediately released on March 1st, a few hours after the demonstrations finished, there have been new arrests. Five people have been detained, and three of them have been brought to Baku and charged under the Criminal Code. At first, the video recordings of the protests were reviewed. After that, the five, who allegedly attended in the protests and burned the home of the head of the executive power Rauf Habibov, were detained. According to unofficial information, the detainees were Alxas Danyalov, Samir Xammadov, Farhad Abdullayev, Xayyam Yunusov və Murad Zakirov. Two of them were later set free. The lawyers of Alxas Danyalov and Samir Xammadov confirmed that criminal cases have been launched against their clients under Articles 186.1 (deliberate demolition of property) and 233 (violation of public order). Rafiga Seyidova, the lawyer of Alxas Danyalov, told Objective TV that her client is being kept in the Kurdakhani investigative prison, and has been sentenced to 2 months of pre-trial detention. The police refused to comment on how many people have been arrested in relation to the Guba events, or on the specific nature of the charges.
