Noyers-sur-Serein (often simply called Noyers) is a beautifully preserved medieval village in Burgundy, France, listed among the “Plus Beaux Villages de France” for its half-timbered houses, 13th-century fortified gates, and cobblestone streets encircled by 19th-century ramparts along the Serein River. With its charming, flower-decked lanes, historic wine cellars, and tranquil atmosphere, it feels like stepping back into the Middle Ages, attracting visitors seeking an authentic, off-the-beaten-path French experience. The Maison des Corporations is a 15th-century half-timbered building located on the Place du Grenier-à-Sel in the heart of Noyers-sur-Serein. Its richly carved wooden facade, featuring intricate figures of artisans, tradesmen, and allegorical scenes representing the medieval guilds (corporations), makes it one of the most photographed and admired houses in the village, and a remarkable example of Burgundian Renaissance civil architecture. La Porte Peinte is an arts center located in Noyers and also an incredibly artistic and cute cafe. The museum of Noyers, musee de Noyers, is a lovely place to see original native art from the Burgundy region.
